Scared Sneha to Successful Sneha

Childhood carries a lot of memories, good, bad, mischievous, and whatnot. A small burn from accidentally touching a match stick or a hot utensil, we used to run to our mom crying in pain. Imagine the situation of a 13-year-old having a major, horrible accident that left her with severe burns all over her body.

This is the story of Sneha, a 13-year-old girl from a town named Suryapet in Telangana. She suffered an accident that left her body with severe burns. Her neck and body had contracted. Her skin had become so fragile that everyday activities were extremely difficult for her to carry out. The accident put a stop to her dreams at a young age and she saw no way ahead.

With no money for treatment and a lot of struggles to come to the city for it, Sneha and her family had lost hope. Having lost her father made Sneha’s and her mother’s life even more difficult than it already was.

Somehow, they had managed to get treated for fresh burns in Hyderabad. The treatment lasted for 45 days post which they moved back to Suryapet due to expensive living costs in Hyderabad.

She resumed her academic life and went back to school. It was a completely different situation for her – she was alienated by her friends, classmates, and everyone else. Her friends had started ignoring her and staying away from her. She felt heartbroken and stopped going to school.

One fine day, Sneha’s mother had seen a newspaper ad that we put out and reached out to us. They approached us with the hope to help Sneha regain her body form which was heavily contracted due to the accident.

Upon talking to her, we learned that her mother is a daily wager and relies on her daily wages for their bread and butter. Due to their financial situation, they live under a roof through which water drips during the rainy season. Because of this, it becomes difficult for the mother to even cook. We immediately decided to take her in and help Sneha get her life back.

We help her get treatment with (doctor ). Her condition when came to us was so critical that the doctors found it difficult to give her anesthesia.

Her treatment continued for 2 to 3 months, even after which she was struggling with physiotherapy as her body had a lot of scars from the burns and the sensation was unbearable.

We helped her with 4 surgeries so far. The doctors started the treatment on her neck and eventually her body. They released her contracted neck and hands.

The doctors had no hope when they saw her condition but took a chance with the surgery. They were very happy after seeing her condition slowly improve post-surgery. Sneha is a lucky girl, they said.

She had lost all hopes in her life before surgery. Now, with every surgery, she is gaining more confidence and feels like her normal self and not like a burned victim.

We adopted her and are taking care of her everyday life and academic life. Sneha is now slowly getting used to her new lifestyle and is leading a happy life. She is currently studying in 10th grade and scoring well in her academics. She is eager to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher and we are happy to help her do that.
